HOUSING GALLERY 2 - PANORAMIC VIEWS

The following photographs were taken from the top of the high flats at either Ruby St or Allan St in 1974.

72) Dalmarnock Gas Works at Old Dalmarnock Rd and Dale St. The church in the foreground is Bridgeton & Newhall Parish. (Ruby St)

73) Towards Glasgow Green from Ruby St. The Chapel and church buildings of the Sacred Heart dominate the foreground, with the Primary School to the left.

74) Dalmarnock Rd towards Bridgeton Cross. The small building at the junction of Old and new Dalmarnock Rds was built in the early 19th century. Guthrie recounts it as being Derry Castle, a public house for as long as any could recall, and that was in 1832! (Ruby St)

75) The junction of Heron and Bernard Sts. In front of the remaining tenements the work is starting on the District Council's Bridgeton Bernard St housing scheme. (Ruby St)

76) From Allan St, the Dalmarnock Power Station.

77) Dalmarnock from Allan St flats. The church is Dalmarnock Parish which faced into Springfield Rd.

78) North from Allan St; in the centre between Springfield Rd and the Clyde are the grounds and buildings of Riverside School.
