THE rustic bridge which the artist has depicted in the accompanying drawing spanned the Kelvin a short distance below the Pear-tree Well. It was allowed to fall into a state of disrepair and some years ago was removed. The little cottage, lonely and picturesque, which lent that human interest to the scene without which no landscape seems perfect, has also become a thing of the past.
