ST. PAUL'S ROMAN CATHOLIC SCHOOL

Built in Eastmuir a few years after the opening of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church in1857, on the north side of what was then Eastmuir Street almost opposite the original St. Paul's Church.  Demolished about 1964.

EASTBANK ACADEMY

Eastbank Academy was opened in May, 1894 to replace the old Eastmuir School which by that date had become quite inadequate to meet the rapid rise in the population of the parish since 1890.  The Academy building at the Academy Street/Shettleston Road corner served the community for just over 90 years.  It was replaced by a new school which opened in May, 1986 and the old building is at present in the course of reconstruction and conversion to an adult education college.

"The Sound of Music" in 1978 was the forerunner of seceral musical productions performed by the pupils of the school since that date.  Other successful productions included such as "The Wizard of Oz", " Calamity Jane" and "The King and I."
