INTRODUCTION

This year, 1992, marks the 80th anniversary of the incorporation of Tollcross into Glasgow. Since then neither Tollcross nor Dalbeth have featured greatly in any account of our city's history, both tending to be overshadowed by their northern neighbour, Shettleston. Having lived between Tollcross and Dalbeth - in Braidfauld - for many years, I have been fascinated by the history of both places and have always wanted to produce an account. I do hope you find this book of some interest. I have derived a great deal of pleasure in its compilation. I would also welcome any comments on its contents - good or bad!
