Playfair & Nimmo May, 2005 - Noel P. Wilkins - noel.wilkins@nuigalway.ie
I came across your article on the history of Bridgeton when I was looking for information on John Playfair and Alexander Nimmo. You mention a Mr. Nimmo sinking a sandpit near Newlands house. Can you indicate a date for this? The Nimmo I am interested in was Alexander Nimmo, 1783 - 1832 (born in Kirkcaldy) and I was wondering if "your" Nimmo could also be "my" Nimmo who was an engineer? Unless your man worked during about 1814 to 1832 it is unlikely to be my subject. Can you enlighten me and let me know? Best wishes , Yours sincerely, Noel P. Wilkins |
