Dear Mr Adams,
I hope that you do not mind me writing to ask your advice on how to proceed with my family history research. My ancestor is a Thomas Dudgeon who married a Marion Guthrie in 1807 at the parish church Glasgow. They were married by John Dick who I believe was a minister of the Burgher Secession Church. On Thomas's marriage entry he is listed as a sergeant in the artillery. I have been to Kew but can find no trace of him. If he was in the artillery could he have possibly been in the local militia. Is there anywhere to find this information. His children were born in 1808,1809,1821 and were baptised at either the city parish church or the Barony. In 1841 his family was living on Ladywell Street, in 1851 they were living on Muse Lane. I have been searching for Thomas for more years than I care to remember without success. Have you any suggestions? Thank you for reading my letter.
Best wishes
Anne (Dudgeon)
I am sorry but I omitted the fact that the family living at Muse lane and Ladywell Street were the family of son Thomas and not the first Thomas who was in the artillery. My apologies.
Best wishes
Anne (Dudgeon)
