Territorial Army Hall, 69, Main Street

The inscription on this TA hall indicated that it was the Headquarters of the 7th Battalion, The Blythswoods, Highland Light Infantry.  There is a memorial to the Blythswoods on Glasgow Green, in McPhun's Park.  This photo was taken in September, 1974.  My recollection is of my school, John Street Secondary, in Tullis Street just opposite, using the gym in the halls in the mid-1960s.  I recall there being an internal open courtyard within the building.

In later years, the hall was used as the Headquarters of the Glasgow volunteer ambulance brigade - the St. Lazarus Emergency Corps.  The brigade was plagued with vandalism which culminated in the hall being destroyed by a fire, probably mid 1970s I believe.
